Hertha’s financial concept
Hertha's financial manager Ingo Schiller announced on Thursday (09.03.06) that the club hopes to reduce the current debt from 35 million to 20 million Euros by the year 2010. "This concept is designed to return the club to profitability ", explained Schiller. Short term debt will be rescheduled by a contract with a banking consortium: "So that the club can plan better and have some financial elbowroom", said Schiller.
More TV money
Hertha plans a budget of 62 million Euros for the 2006/07 season, the current season will end according to Schiller, with a budget of around 55 million Euros.
The increased budget results from 6 million more Euros from increased TV money, secured through the new TV deal made by the German Football League (DFL). Wages for 2006/07 will be around 26,4 million Euros, which is more or less on a par with the current season (26,2 million).
The concept only allows the signing of new players if the club offloads players already at the club. Schiller has ruled out the possibility of outside investment in the club next term.
